Day 1 Airport Negombo

As soon as you touchdown in Sri Lanka, an ASY Tours representative will warmly welcome you at the airport.

Get ready for an exhilarating wildlife tour, with your first destination being Negombo – a vibrant fishing town on Sri Lanka’s Western Coast.

After a short 30-minute drive, you’ll arrive at your hotel, where you can check in, relax, and unwind. In the late evening, you can have a delectable seafood dinner by the serene Negombo beach.

Day 2 Negombo Willpattu

Begin your second day with a hearty English breakfast before heading towards Wilpattu National Park, one of the largest sanctuaries in Sri Lanka, brimming with Mother Nature’s finest flora and fauna.

Wilpattu is a haven for a wide array of wildlife, lush greenery, and incredible bird species. On your way to Wilpattu, you’ll stop at the Anawilundawa bird sanctuary, a unique ecological setting that provides the perfect environment for nesting and breeding for hundreds of bird species.

After being mesmerized by the colorful birds, you’ll continue your journey to Wilpattu, arriving just in time to relax at the campsite. In the evening, you’ll embark on an exciting jeep safari expedition. If luck is on your side, you may spot the majestic Sri Lankan elephant, elusive leopard, sloth bear, spotted deer, buffalo, and many other magnificent creatures that call this wilderness home.

After your thrilling adventure, enjoy a mouthwatering BBQ dinner and an overnight stay in the tented safari camps, beneath the star-studded night skies.

Day 3 Wilpattu Sigiriya

Today, after breakfast, you’ll embark on a journey to Anuradhapura, the first capital of Sri Lanka established by King Pandukhabaya in the 4th century BC. Known for being one of the longest-serving capitals in Sri Lankan history, this historic city is beautifully situated along a picturesque riverbank.

In Anuradhapura, you’ll marvel at the ‘Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi’, the oldest documented Bo tree in the world, and explore ancient monasteries and numerous ruins of historical significance. As one of the eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Sri Lanka, Anuradhapura is home to remarkable stone carvings, including the ‘Isurumuniya Lovers’ and the ‘Aukana Buddha Statue’. You’ll be captivated by the colossal Buddha statue, with its serene expression and intricately carved robe, reflecting supreme spirituality.

After immersing yourself in the rich history of Sri Lanka and discovering fascinating facts about the past, you’ll continue your journey to Sigiriya. Upon arrival in Sigiriya, you’ll check in to your hotel to relax, enjoy dinner, and unwind for the day.

Day 4 Sigiriya Wasgamuwa

Your day begins with an early breakfast as you prepare to visit Sri Lanka’s most famous rock fortress, Sigiriya.

Visible from miles away, the towering ‘Lion Rock’ is an archaeological marvel and a testament to Sri Lanka’s advanced city planning, water gardens, engineering, and fortification from the 5th century AD. The peak offers a breathtaking view of the blue-green landscape, lush gardens, and sophisticated irrigation systems. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you’ll be amazed by the beautiful frescoes and the fascinating mirror wall of the fortress.

After descending from Sigiriya, your journey continues to Wasgamuwa.

On the way, you will visit a wildlife conservation center where you’ll learn about the human-elephant conflicts and the innovative use of orange plantations to prevent elephants from entering human settlements. You’ll have the opportunity to engage in activities that help villagers mitigate these conflicts.

Next, you will visit the magnificent Wasgamuwa Tank, where you can observe elephants coming in for their water.

Day 5 Wasgamuwa Nuwara Eliya

Today begins with an early start as you embark on a jeep safari through Wasgamuwa National Park, where breakfast packets will be provided. This park, home to several reservoirs, is teeming with wildlife.

You’ll be thrilled by the sight of herds of mischievous elephants roaming freely, alongside other fascinating wildlife species. After this exhilarating safari, your journey continues to Nuwara Eliya via Mahiyanganaya, with a stop at the historic Mahiyanganaya temple, the first stupa built in Sri Lanka during the era of Lord Buddha.

The scenic drive will take you through towering mountains, lush grasslands, and picturesque roads lined with vendors selling fresh king coconuts. Enjoy lunch along the way, and keep an eye out for the stunning mist-covered landscapes, serene pools of water, wandering wildlife, and lush greenery. If you’re fortunate, you might spot an elephant or other wildlife crossing the road. Don’t miss the breathtaking views of the Knuckles range and the thrilling experience of navigating the famous ’18-hair-pin-bends’ road.

Upon arriving in Nuwara Eliya, you’ll check in at your hotel to relax before setting off on a city tour that includes the iconic Gregory Lake. Take in the charming landscape of mist-capped mountains, colonial buildings, and blooming gardens before enjoying dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 6 Nuwara Eliya Udawalawa

After an early breakfast, your adventure begins with the exciting Horton Plains trek, starting at 6:30 am.

Horton Plains is one of the most breathtaking and windswept locations in Sri Lanka, boasting a diverse ecosystem of montane evergreen forests, grasslands, and marshlands.

As you trek through this picturesque landscape, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to capture spellbinding panoramic views. Following the trek, you’ll descend to Udawalawe, with a stop to visit the glorious Ravana Falls in Ella along the way. Ravana Falls, a popular sightseeing attraction, is renowned for being one of the widest waterfalls in Sri Lanka.

Day 7 Udawalawe Yala

Following an early breakfast, you’ll set off on an adrenaline-packed jeep safari at Udawalawe National Park, a renowned tourist attraction celebrated for its stunning scenic beauty and diverse array of faunal and floral species.

Located in the dry zone, the park features unique vegetation and remarkable geographical traits. Its ecosystem consists of forests interspersed with grasslands and thorny shrubs.

After exploring the park, you’ll visit the Elephant Transit Home in Udawalawe in the afternoon. Established in 1995, this sanctuary has been dedicated to caring for injured, sick, and orphaned baby elephants from across Sri Lanka.

Next, you’ll head to Yala, where you’ll check into a safari camp to relax. The eventful day will conclude with a delightful BBQ dinner at the camp, followed by an overnight stay in a tented safari camp in Yala.

After dinner, an exciting night bush stroll awaits, where you’ll witness birds, reptiles, and other wildlife resting in their natural habitats. This unforgettable experience, amidst the stillness of the night, will be a perfect end to your day. After this short night walk, you’ll return to camp for a restful night’s sleep.

Day 8 Yala

Your wildlife adventure continues today with an early morning jeep safari in Yala National Park, where breakfast packets will be provided.

Yala National Park, a vast forest with numerous watering holes, is teeming with wildlife, including leopards, elephants, crocodiles, and a variety of birds. It’s renowned for being one of the best places in the world to spot leopards, with the highest density of these elusive cats globally. Be sure to savor and capture any rare sightings you encounter!

After your morning safari, you’ll visit the Sithulpawwa monastery within the park, where you’ll learn about its fascinating history and folklore.

Following lunch, you’ll embark on an afternoon jeep safari, offering further opportunities to observe wildlife and enjoy the stunning landscapes adorned with unique flora.

As dusk approaches, more wildlife will emerge, searching for water holes. After a day full of exploration, you’ll return to the safari camp for a Rotti dinner under the night sky, followed by a comfortable overnight stay in your tent.

Day 9 Yala Ahangama

After breakfast, you’ll depart from Yala and start your day with a visit to ‘Wadahiti Kanda’ in Kataragama. This site is historically significant as it’s where Prince Dutugemunu vowed to build a temple to the deity in Kataragama after defeating the invader King Elara.

Following this visit, you’ll drive to Ahangama Beach, with a stop at the Ussangoda Beach Park en route. Here, an uphill climb leads you to a unique and mysterious landscape. Some believe that an ancient meteoroid fell in this area, which explains the barren soil and unusual vegetation.

After exploring this intriguing location, you’ll check into a beach resort in Ahangama for a relaxing evening. The resort offers beautiful beachfront views, making it a perfect escape from city life. Enjoy unwinding, taking in the local culture, and experiencing the laid-back way of life in southern Sri Lanka.

Your day will end with a delightful dinner at the resort, followed by an overnight stay at the hotel in Ahangama.

Day 10 Departure

Today marks the final day of your journey on this paradise isle.

After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Mirissa, depending on the season. If you’re traveling between November and April, you’ll head out for whale watching at 5:30 AM, with breakfast packets provided.

Mirissa, located on Sri Lanka’s south coast, is renowned for its whale and dolphin watching, as well as its stunning sunrises and sunsets. The azure waters and expansive white sandy beaches offer a vibrant mix of relaxation and nightlife activities.

Following your time in Mirissa, you’ll transfer to Colombo for a city tour. Explore Fort and Pettah, discovering the commercial and residential areas of the city while visiting key landmarks such as Galle Face Green, the Old Parliament, the Lighthouse Clock Tower, Colombo Harbour, Gangarama Temple, Independence Square, and Viharamahadevi Park. After lunch and a shopping excursion, you’ll proceed to the airport for your departure.
